"It's the wealth of period material in true 'scrapbook' style, some of it from Hill's own collections, that really animates this volume. The text is certainly informative, but the press cuttings and period photographs bring every aspect and detail of this great British driver and his world to life. Hill's own comments from the time, and the quotes from friends and collegues give a great warmth and depth of character to the work. You can't help wishing that today's drivers had his unselfconscious showmanship and off-track presence."
